Another important auction is coming up and I will be donating a Big Fruit painting for the live auction and a charcoal portrait commission for the silent auction put on by Oregon Foundation for Reproductive Health and NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon.  This year’s NARAL Annual Liberty Auction will be held Saturday, April 2 at the Portland Hilton.  The silent auction begins at 5:30pm and the live auction and dinner starts at 8:00pm.  Support women’s right to choose and walk away with an original painting or some other fantastic item!

To raise funds for Mercy Corps’ relief efforts in Japan, the team at Beast has joined forces with Connie Wohn and Elise Bartow to bring together a creative evening of food, wine, music (DJ Safi will be spinning Japanese tunes) and a live auction of a few select items donated by local artists and businesses, including one of my paintings, Single Pear.  This dinner event starts at 7pm Tuesday, March 29, and they still have a few spots left.  So reserve your table now and help the victims in Japan!  100% of the proceeds will go to Mercy Corps and are tax deductible.

The Portland Center for the Performing Arts ArtBar will be presenting artwork of 49 artists who participated in 2010’s Portland Open Studios Tour, including moi, for its next exhibit.  I will be showing Beach Break, my latest addition to my People in Landscape series, and I would love the opportunity to share it with you.  So come on downtown February 3rd for a special First Thursday reception and see me at PCPA’s ArtBar from 6-9pm.  This will be a great opportunity to mingle with the artists and discuss the different pieces of work represented in the show.  Portland Open Studios: A Survey of the 2010 Artists is on view through March 31st.

Portland Open Studios offers artists in the Portland metro area opportunities to showcase their work, engage a curious public, and network with other artists, all within a supportive environment.  It’s a unique educational organization that serves the community and helps artists meet their professional goals through workshops, publicity, exhibitions, and the open studios tour.  PCPA Gallery hosts quarterly art exhibits designed to integrate the work of Portland artists, galleries, organizations, and curators into PCPA’s prominent venues.

Colored Pencils Art Collective is inviting Portland to celebrate the resettlement of yet another new American community.  March 25 will be an evening celebrating our new Somali neighbors, with lively culinary arts, in the company of an extraordinary mix of fine and performing artists.

The event takes place at  the Multnomah Arts Center from 6 to 9 pm, and I will be attending as a guest as well as showing a couple of paintings from my People in Landscape series.   So join me at this celebration of the wonderful and diverse communities in the Portland metropolitan area.
