Welcome the Spring season with a trip to Hood River and taste the ripe and juicy additions to my Big Fruit series at the Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital Art Wall. The show runs April 8 through June 30 and can be seen during normal business hours.

It is that time of year again! April 15, 12 – 5pm, I will be at Muse Art and Design creating an original painting while you watch. Each day in April, a different artist will be demonstrating their process and it’s your chance to ask questions and witness the creation unfold before your eyes. Works will be exhibited as they are completed, ending with a celebration and auction of the artwork to raise funds to purchase art supplies for Portland classrooms.
All events are open to the public. Come see 30 Portland artists at work, bid on your favorite works of art, and support Portland artists and public schools!
Exhibit and ongoing bidding: April 1 – May 12, 2011, 11am – 6pm (Muse Art and Design store hours)
Reception and auction close: Thursday, May 12, 6pm – 8pm (location TBA)
Artists producing portraits of other artists! I am participating in this fun twist on portrait commissions and I invite you to come see the results. A group of 24 artists drew each others’ names out of a hat, exhanged photos and then created a portrait of that person. No one knows who is painting their portrait until the opening. At the end of the show’s run, the subject of the portrait will get to take home their new painting.
All the portraits will be on display the month of April at the Northeast Urban Grind Coffeehouse, and I invite you to be part of the big reveal and see the results at the opening reception Saturday April 2, 6 to 9pm. Don’t miss this special show!

Another important auction is coming up and I will be donating a Big Fruit painting for the live auction and a charcoal portrait commission for the silent auction put on by Oregon Foundation for Reproductive Health and NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon. This year’s NARAL Annual Liberty Auction will be held Saturday, April 2 at the Portland Hilton. The silent auction begins at 5:30pm and the live auction and dinner starts at 8:00pm. Support women’s right to choose and walk away with an original painting or some other fantastic item!
To raise funds for Mercy Corps’ relief efforts in Japan, the team at Beast has joined forces with Connie Wohn and Elise Bartow to bring together a creative evening of food, wine, music (DJ Safi will be spinning Japanese tunes) and a live auction of a few select items donated by local artists and businesses, including one of my paintings, Single Pear. This dinner event starts at 7pm Tuesday, March 29, and they still have a few spots left. So reserve your table now and help the victims in Japan! 100% of the proceeds will go to Mercy Corps and are tax deductible.
